Om mig

The Department of Sociology at Stockholm University regularly hosts guest researchers among whom Gebremariam Woldemicael is one of the new guest researchers who joined the Department from London, Ontario, Canada in June and will stay until the end of August 2019. He received the very first PhD in Demography with a set of studies on “Infant and Child Mortality in Eritrea” at Stockholm University in 1999. Woldemicael’s present research goals are directed toward understanding the scale, causes, and consequences of “Forced Migration from Eritrea and other East African Countries in Sweden”. Migration from Eritrea is perceived as one of the most spectacular international population movements in contemporary African history. Yet, research on migration from Eritrea to Sweden or other European Countries has been rather sketchy. This research will go some way to filling this research gap.
