Om mig

I defended my thesis on the Late Antique history of the Sanctuary of Labraunda (Turkey) in 2012 at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies at Stockholm University. My PhD project included a study on the churches and bath complexes, as well as a discussion on the process of Christianisation at the sanctuary. During 2014-2015 I was part of the research project Early Monasticism and Classical Paideia at Lund University in which I studied material from recent archaeological investigations at the Monastery of St Antony in Egypt.

My current research is primarily concentrated on Classical and Hellenistic history of architecture in the Aegean region. Among my on-going projects are a publication on the 4th-century Andrones of Labraunda together with professor Pontus Hellström (Uppsala University) and the Hellenistic and Roman buildings around the Temple Terrace of Labraunda in collaboration with Dr Ragnar Hedlund (Uppsala University). Both projects highlight monumental architecture at Labraunda dedicated by priests and/or rulers from the 4th century BC to the 2nd century AD. Apart from the architectural study of these andrones, stoai, and propylaia, I wish to analyse the mechanisms of euergetism at the Sanctuary of Labraunda in the light of its long tradition of what seems to be hereditary priest titles. These projects therefore involve a diachronic perspective of the dedications of the local priest collegium ranging from the Achaemenid to the Roman periods.

Other projects that I partake in include a study of Doric temple architecture at Hermione in the Argolid under the direction of the Swedish Institute at Athens. I have also assisted professor Lars Karlsson of Uppsala University in field studies of the Hellenistic fortifications at Morgantina in Sicily. I have also worked in collaboration with different projects as an archaeological illustrator, for instance in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ethiopia, and Egypt.
