Om mig

Professional interests

• Interception of deposited radionuclides by plants
• Translocation of radionuclides within crops to eatable plant parts
• Transfer of radionuclides from crops to foodstuffs
• Methods of preparedness of the terrestrial environment at a radioactive fallout
• Behaviour of radionuclides in soils, related to soil type and climate change

Radionuclides of particular interest are Cs-137, Cs-134, K-40 and Sr-90. My work consists of research, protection from and measurements of radioactivity in case of crisis, environmental monitoring and education. I study for example the spreading and transport processes of radioactive elements in air, water, soil and plants in different ecosystems. I collaborate both on a national and international basis in different projects and has a well-established network.

Radioecology comprises the study and knowledge of the occurrence, transport and effects of radioactive elements in different ecosystems and food chains. The subject radioecology is a combined scientific field of research, with roots in physics, biology and soil science. One important aspect of radioecology is to provide founded critical limits for radiation amounts for human beings, as well as provide recommendations and guidelines for minimization of these amounts.
