Reform and Responsibility in the Remaking of the Swedish National Pension System (Palgrave Macmillan) is a close up and detailed study through Sweden's recently remade national pension system. In the book Anette Nyqvist, Associate Professor at the Department of Social Anthropology, shows how new forms of governance effectively shift responsibility from state level to an individual level. She sheds light on how politicians, technocrats, and bureaucrats work to educate and mold the general public into responsible, hardworking, and financially literate citizens.

The book is an almost completely rewritten version of Anette Nyqvist’s thesis from 2008 based on the same study, but reworked, developed and updated.
