Mast Utas, researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute and Uppsala University, has focused on Sierra Leone and Liberia for almost 20 years and he has lived in the region for many years.

Mats was involved in preparing and teaching the Swedish aid workers that travelled to West Africa to combat the epidemic. In the interview Mats stresses how important it is that the foreign staff work together with the local population and discusses the usefulness of anthropological knowledge in the fight against the Ebola virus.
