Fifteen subjects at Stockholm University are among the top one hundred in the world, according to the same ranking.

As many as eleven of the fifteen subjects also ranked as number one in Sweden. Stockholm University has Sweden's top research and education within Anthropology, Communication & Media Studies, Earth & Marine Sciences, Education, Environmental Science, Law, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Social Policy & Administration and Sociology.

QS Rankings are published annually by the British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The ranking contains both international and national ranking tables and is considered one of the three most widely used and influential university rankings in the world, along with the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Our courses and programmes

Basic level studies at the Department of Social Anthropology are taught in Swedish and English. Advanced level studies in Social Anthropology are taught entirely in English. You can choose between 2-year master's programs or advanced level courses.

In addition, the Department offers the International Master's Program in Environmental Social Science (120 credits). The program is a collaboration between the Department of Social Anthropology, the Department of Political Science (host) and the Department of Human Geography.
