The research project aims to describe, analyse and compare the importance of civil society organisations for the educational achievement of young people in bigger cities and small towns in Sweden.
The following questions will be studied:
- Are there any differences between civil society organisations in these two contexts?
- Is it possible to observe a positive impact on student performance due to membership in such organisations?
- If so, through which processes do such an effect operate?
- To what extent does participation in these organisations restrict young people’s freedom and mobility?
A combination of quantitative and qualitative methods will be used to analyse the roles and processes of the effects of these organisations on the educational achievements of young people in the two different national contexts.
