Anna obtained her PhD in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics in 2014. Since then, she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University.
Anna’s research focuses primarily on economic inequalities and gender gaps in representation and wages. To explore these issues, she uses data from Swedish registers and experiments, as well as field data from other sources such as sporting events. Here thesis addresses, among other things, gender differences in the propensity to initiate wage negotiations, sibling correlations in crime, and in-group bias in evaluation situations.
During the upcoming years, Anna will continue using register data and experiments to study the mechanisms behind economic gender gaps. Her junior researcher project, funded by FORTE, aims to study the impact of (i) the gender composition of teams, (ii) referral-based hiring, and (iii) gender stereotypes in media.
