At the Academy's General Meeting on 12 February Carina Mood, professor in sociology and researcher at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) since 2007, was elected member of the Academy’s class for social sciences. Professors of Economy Eva Mörk, Uppsala University, and John Hassler, Stockholm University, were also elected in the class for social sciences, and Sun-Yung Alice Chang, Princeton University and Andrei Okounkov, Columbia University, were elected members of the Academy’s class for mathematics.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences was founded in 1739 and is an independent non-governmental organisation, whose overall objective is to "promote the sciences and strengthen their influence in society".
