In addition to the head of department, the board of SOFI consists of representatives from the authorities the The Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate (Inspektionen för socialförsäkringen, ISF), The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (Sveriges kommuner och regioner, SKR), the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan). There are also representatives of SOFI's staff and doctoral students in the board.
In the 2021 board, two of the representatives from the authorities have been replaced, and new representatives of staff and doctoral students have been elected.
