EQUALSOC

The European Union network Economic Change, Quality of Life and Social Cohesion (EQUALSOC) has been created to mobilise and develop research expertise across Europe on economic change, quality of life and social cohesion. Its aim is to stimulate high quality comparative European research on social cohesion and its determinants; encourage the development of additional research centres; provide an infrastructure for training the rising generation of young researchers in the skills of comparative research; and facilitate access to the most recent results of research for the wider research community and for policy makers. REASSESS

NCoE Reassessing the Nordic Welfare Model. This Nordic Centre of Excellence in Welfare Research is a virtual research centre co-ordinated from NOVA in Norway. Distinguished Nordic researchers aim to investigate and critically discuss whether the Nordic welfare model has the ability to renew itself under changing external conditions (European integration, greater mobility across national borders, globalisation, etc.) and internal conditions (ageing populations, changeable patterns of parenting and partnering, individualisation, etc.). InGRID (first stage)

InGRID (Inclusive Growth Infrastructure Diffusion) is approved under EU FP7 for the study of poverty, working life and living conditions. It brings together 17 expert partners from 10 different EU Member States. The project runs from February 1, 2013 to January 31, 2017. The objectives are to integrate and innovate existing, but distributed European social sciences research infrastructures on poverty, living conditions, working life and vulnerability by improving transnational data access, organizing mutual knowledge exchange and improving methods and tools for comparative research. These integrated activities will provide the European scientific community new and better opportunities to fulfill its key role in the development of evidence-based European policies for inclusive growth. Specific attention is paid to measurement of related state policies, high-performance statistical quality management, and dissemination/outreach activities. Pan-European optimization of research infrastructures is created by harmonized high-performance on-site data access and extensive visiting grant systems. Joint research activities are conducted for innovation and optimization of research infrastructures. Key issues include multidimensional conceptualization and measurement of poverty, problems associated with hard-to-identify and hard-to-reach vulnerable groups in survey based research, improvement of longitudinal and regional poverty analysis, methods for linking vulnerability in working conditions with economic change and employers’ behavior, harmonized classifications of jobs and skills, construction of comparative policy indicators and micro-simulation of policy change.
