Rörliga bilder i genusperspektiv
Taught in English, first cycle level, first half of the semester. Recommended also for exchange students and international free movers interested in moving images and gender studies. Lectures and screenings in Filmhuset.
The course explores central approaches, concepts and contemporary discussions in studying gender in moving images and viewing practices. After the course, students are expected to be able to: - Understand and reflect introduced concepts and approaches in feminist film/media studies. - Apply them to analysis of gender in moving images. Various ways of scrutinizing gendered, sexual and class-related power structures and body norms in feminist film and media studies are addressed during the course. Along with media viewings that range across various audiovisual genres and forms, the course consists of lectures, discussions, small writing assignments and a home exam.

Kursupplägg
The course consists of lectures, seminars and screenings for 10 weeks - first half of the semester. All take place in Filmhuset by Gärdet in Stockholm.
You participate two days per week. Typically a day in Filmhuset starts off with a screening for around two hours followed by a two hour lecture.
Everything is done in English.
Undervisning
Along with viewings that range across various audiovisual genres and forms, the course consists of lectures (in English), discussions on literature and viewings (in English), a reading diary (in English) and a final written assignment.

This course run for first half of the semster, the other half we recommend FV1017 Postcolonial Perspectives on Audio Visual Media, 15 credits.
