SUDA and SPaDE was visited by a government delegation from Japan interested in learning about policy measures for raising fertility while at the same time increasing women’s labor force participation. Declining birth rates and a low share of labor market participants in the population are important issues for Japan. The delegation was interested in the Swedish experience and especially the scientific expertise of SUDA and SPaDE members. The delegation, hosted by Gunnar Andersson, consisted of two directors at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) as well as the first secretary from the Japanese embassy in Sweden.
