This year seven SPaDE members, both demographers and geographers, participated in the annual meeting of the Population of America Association (PAA) which was held in New Orleans, April 11-14. Ann-Zofie Duvander presented the paper Family Policy Reform Impact on Continued Fertility in the Nordic Countries, co-authored with Mats Johansson (Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate). Ann-Zofie Duvander also presented the paper Gender Roles and Family Stability: The Influence of a More Active Father’s Role on Divorce Risk in the Nordic Countries, which she co-authors with Trude Lappegård, (Statistics Norway) and Mats Johansson (Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate). Several SPaDE members also participated in poster sessions. Juho Härkönen presented his co-authored paper with Diederik Boertien (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) The Negative Educational Gradient in Divorce: Do the Lower Educated Have Worse Marriages?. Maria Brandén and Karen Haandrikman (Stockholm University) presented their paper Who Moves to Whom? Gender Differences in Moving to a First Shared Residence , whereas Johan Carlsson Dahlberg presented a poster on his paper Family Influence on Becoming a Parent: Sibling Correlations in Propensity to Enter Parenthood. Margarita Chudnovskaya presented her paper The Geography of Relationships in Sweden: Developments in Geographical Proximity between couples and Their Parents, 1980-2007.

Elizabeth Thomson was a discussant at the session Fertility Change over Space and Time in Developed Countries and Juho Härkönen was a discussant at the session Health Behaviors.
