Shogi is the Japanese counterpart to chess, but is played on a 9x9 squares board and with pieces of the same colour. Both the pieces and the rules differ somewhat from chess - for example, it is possible to reuse pieces that you have won from your opponent.

Now, we offer you the opportunity to learn the basics or to further develop your skills as a shogi player here at Språkstudion. Gatherings are held every Wednesday at 5 p.m. and are open to all SU students, employees and alumni, but you need to register each time to attend.

Would you like to join?

Participation is free of charge, but you have to be registered in the Språkstudion Language Cafe system in order to participate. If you aren't registered already, you can sign up here, or come by our front desk (Södra huset, house E, 2nd floor) for help. Also, since places are limited you will need to sign up for every new session by sending an e-mail to info@sprakstudion.su.se containing your name and the date you wish to participate. Please write "Shogi" in the subject line.

Welcome!
