Anniversary fika – 10 years of Language Cafes!
On September 26th 2022, the European Day of Languages, we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Språkstudion's Language Cafes with fika and a cafe-themed quiz in Språkparken.
The European Day of Languages, September 26th, is celebrated across Europe through various events and activities. The day was established in 2001 with the aim to promote language diversity and lifelong language learning.
Språkstudion started language cafes in 2012, in collaboration with members of the Student Union. The cafes quickly became an appreciated part of the language learning process for both students and staff, and we can now look back on 10 years of student engagement, intercultural communication, language diversity and an expanding international network.
These occasions were both celebrated at Språkstudion on Monday September 26th 2022 with an anniversary fika in our seminar room Språkparken. To let visitors physically walk through the history of the cafes, all cafe schedules from past terms were on display.
We also organised a multilingual quiz, with questions about the history and linguistic diversity of the cafes. The quiz was won by Amina Romero Orlowski, who is currently studying Korean at SU. Congratulations and well quizzed!
If you'd like to try your hand at the quiz, you can download the question sheet below.
