The new solution will greatly reduce administration at IT Services, as there will be synchronisation between SUKAT and the switchboard systems. Currently three different registers are maintained, after this there will be only one, which will not only save time, it will also increase data quality.

It will be possible to send group text messages (SMS) with the new solution, which will make communication between the University and staff easier as well as communication with students. For example, it will be possible for a teacher to notify students that a lecture has been moved or cancelled via the group text service.

As for mobile coverage, it will be as good as before, as Tele2 and Telenor share the same network. As with the current contract, there’ll be a flat rate, which means that calls and texts are included in the monthly fee. In addition to that, all users get 100 GB of data each month.

The change of operator will mean that all users will have to change SIM cards on November 1. New SIM cards will be sent out in good time to the administrative head of the department. If you will be out of the office during October when the SIM cards are sent out, please contact Helpdesk right away so that other arrangements can be made. It is important to change the SIM card on 1 November or the phone will not work.
