USA

Research funding from federal (government) agencies in the United States is covered by a large common set of rules, but also government-specific rules and rules specific to an agreement. Most large foundations and other private financiers also refer in whole or in part to the federal regulations. Private funders also have their own regulations to a greater or lesser extent. It is the university as a legal entity that signs the agreements, which has led to Stockholm University having established a special procedure for US-funded research projects and developed administrative support in the work with the projects.
