Archiving research information

Research information includes a research project’s administrative documents, economic documents, research data and associated information, publications and other research outputs.

Research information created in connection with a research project is an important part of the university archives. According to the Archives Act (1990:782), archives must be preserved, organised and cared for to assure the public access to information and the administration of justice and to meet the needs of administration and research. It is important to make sure from the start to preserve the documents that later need to be archived, according to the regulations. To ensure that research information and research data can be reused it is important to preserve the information that allows understanding of what occurred during the project and why, and thus how the research data should be interpreted. You find information about archiving and the excision of unnecessary or irrelevant material.
