Editing interface and settings

The editing interface and its functions are explained in the relevant section of these instructions. Below is a general description of the editing interface, instructions for the language setting and a few functions that are not described in the other sections.
This is a simplified version of the editing interface used for editing websites in Polopoly, even if some buttons and spaces are visible but not functional.

Important tips

  • Use the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
  • Do NOT use the "Back/Forward" buttons in the web browser.
  • Remember to save your progress!

Screen layout

  1. User interface: The green bar at the top. Here you can change the language setting, open your desktop, and log out. On the far right, you will also find the clipboard, which contains the most recently copied object.
  2. Navigation frame with inbox: Not used for profile pages.
  3. Workspace: This is where you edit your profile page. Unless you are the editor of a website, only your profile page will be visible on the desktop here.
  4. Search frame: Here you can search for the objects associated with your profile page.

Language setting

You can choose between Swedish or English as the language of the editing interface; the default setting is English. You can change the language by clicking on your name on the left side of the green bar at the top.
Change the language under the heading “Language/Språk”.

1. When you are done, click on "Save & View/Spara och visa".

2. You will need to log out and log back in for the change to take effect. Click on "Log out/Logga ut" on the right side of the green bar at the top. Log back in via su.se/editpolopoly.

Editing objects

Functions

When an object is closed, a number of icons for various functions will be displayed. Shown in the picture below is the icon bar of a file. For articles (the profile page) and images, only the Copy and Remove icons will be displayed. The other functions will appear on the button bar when the objects are active and thus open in their own tab.

  1. Edit: Used to edit the object; opens a new tab.
  2. Preview: Opens the object in a new tab in the web browser.
  3. Properties: Displays the properties of the object. Here you can view previous versions and save them as the latest version. However, be careful if you have added any files, images, or links in a more recent version, as they will disappear and the page may not be visible.
  4. Copy to clipboard: Copies the reference to the clipboard.
  5. Remove: Used to remove the object.

Tabs and buttons in View mode and Edit mode

When you create a new image or file, or click on an existing article (profile page), image, or file, the object will open in a new tab. Close the tab by clicking on "Save & Close" or by clicking on the X on the left side of the tab.

There are two viewing modes when an article (profile page), image, or file is active in its own tab:

Visa-läge
View mode

Redigera-läge
Edit mode

In "Properties", you can view previous versions and save them as the latest version. However, be careful if you have added any files, images, or links in a more recent version, as they will disappear and the page may not be visible.

The preview will open in a new tab. The web browser must be configured to allow pop-up windows.

Save and autosave

Once you have saved your profile page for the first time, the content will be saved automatically while you are editing the page. If you are logged out without saving, you will have the option to retrieve the latest autosaved version when you click on "Edit".

Click on the link text in the field and then on "X" to close the information window.

Search function

In case you remove the profile page (article) or an image by mistake, you can find it again through the search function. Your search will then be carried out among the objects you are authorised to see, i.e. your profile page and the images you have uploaded.
Please refer to the FAQ for more information

Information window

When you insert, save, get logged out, etc., an information window will be displayed in the green bar.

Clipboard

When you copy the reference to an object, it will be added to the clipboard. If you click on the clipboard button, you will see which reference is located there. Only the most recently copied reference will be in the clipboard.
