Presentation texts

You can add presentation texts with the headings "About me", "Research", and "Teaching". It is up to you under which headings you want to add text. If you do not add any text, the heading will not be displayed.

The texts will appear in the middle of the page, and the existing SUKAT information will then be moved automatically to the left column on your profile page. If you have uploaded a profile image, it will remain at the top of the left column.

Start editing

Click on the "Edit" button, followed by the desired tab: "About me", "Research", or "Teaching". If you check the "Show English headings" box, the headings for SUKAT information, links, and files will also be in English.
NB! Do not edit the text in the "Title" field, det är den text som hämtats från SUKAT och visas i listor på andra webbsidor. På profilsidan visas alltid det namn som finns registrerat i SUKAT.

Add your text in the text editor.

Enter your text

Enter your text directly in the text editor (1a).
When pasting text, e.g. from Word, always paste the text by clicking on the "Paste as plain text" or "Paste from Word" icon (1b). This will ensure that any formatting code that may corrupt the text on the live site is stripped away. You may need to make some adjustments to paragraph breaks, etc.

Format the text

New paragraph: Enter; new line: shift+enter
Headings: If you want to use subheadings, use the style Heading 3 (the existing headings are Heading 2) – select from the drop-down menu (2a).
Body text (2b):

  • Bold is mainly used to highlight key words in order to make the text easier to read
  • Italics are difficult to read on screen and should be used sparingly
  • Underline should not be used, as it can be confused with links that are always underlined.
  • You can use numbered or bulleted lists to make the content easier to read.

Links and anchors in the text

Enter and select the desired link text and click on the "Link" icon (3a). Ange i pop up-fönstret:

  • Web address: Paste the link address into the URL field. NB! For external links, you should also click on the "Target" tab and select "New Window (_blank)"; for internal links (su.se address), there is no need to select a target.
  • E-mail address: Select "E-mail" as the link type and paste the e-mail address.
  • Anchor in the text: This is used to create links within the page. First, specify the location of the anchor by placing the cursor on the desired location in the text, clicking on the "Anchor" icon, and entering a name for the anchor. Then create a link to the anchor as described above and select "Anchor in the text" as link type.

Remove a link by right-clicking on the link text and selecting "Remove link", then delete the link text.

Place the cursor where you want to insert the table and click on the “Table" icon (4). In the pop-up window, enter the desired number of rows and columns, etc. Tabellen läggs på ny rad. This is only used for table data, not for layout.

Remove a table by right-clicking in the table and selecting "Remove table".

Insert the file on a new line, as it also displays an icon beside the file name: Place the cursor where you want to insert the file and click on "Paste link resource". The visible text will be the same as the file name.

Delete a file by right-clicking on the file link and selecting "Remove link", then delete the link text.

  • the image's caption

NB: If you have inserted a full-width image, go down using the arrow key to add text below the image. Otherwise, the text is formatted as caption.
If you have inserted an image with half- or third-width and continue typing, the text will be placed next to the image. In order for the text to be placed below the image, you have to go down using the Enter key, followed by the arrow key.

Remove the image by selecting the image from above or from below to mark it blue, then click on backspace (this will remove all underlying code).

Source

This shows the so-called source code for the content you put on the page (7), which controls in part how the content appears on the web page.
Only touch the source code if you are familiar with html coding! And do not insert your own scripts or lines of code, as these may corrupt the entire webpage.

Preview and save

Save by clicking on one of the Save buttons you see below.

Check how the text looks on the live site by clicking on "Preview": first click on "Save & Edit", then on "Preview". The live site will then be displayed in a new tab in the browser (you have to allow pop-up windows in your web browser).

NB! Make sure you have not been logged out before you save, so that what you have done on the page is not lost. If that is the case, select all text and copy it using ctrl/cmd+c, then paste the text using ctrl/cmd+v once you have logged back in.
After the profile page has been saved once, the page will be saved automatically at specific intervals, and you will be able to access the latest version the next time you click on "Edit". Click on the link text in the field and then on "X" to close the information window.
