The Science with and for Society (SWAFS) programme is coordinated by the European Commission within the framework of Horizon 2020 and aims to promote cooperation between research and society and strengthen research and innovation to tackle European societal challenges.

The eight universities within the CIVIS alliance are now receiving two million euros in support of the RIS4CIVIS project to develop a strategy for integrating research and innovation into their work in the long term. The goal is to develop a common strategy for how to collaborate on research and innovation, including Open Science practices, innovation support and cooperation with civil society.

Stockholm University responsible for two areas

The project will probably start on 1 January 2021 and run until 2023.
Stockholm University will participate in the entire project and is responsible for two areas. One is about developing a joint research and innovation strategy, a work that will be led by Staffan Furusten, professor at Stockholm Business School and director of Stockholm centre for organizational research (Score). The second area is about coordinating the case studies to be carried out in the project, a work conducted by Louise Wallenberg, professor at the Department of Media Studies.
The university’s work on the project will be coordinated by the Office of the President and supported by the Research Support Office.
