The University Alliance CIVIS was formed in 2019 within the framework of the European Commission for the European Universities Initiative, which has led to more than 40 European universities being formed with a total of 280 members. CIVIS is a broad collaboration between eight major universities in Europe and aims to develop joint education, research and collaboration to tackle current societal challenges. The alliance has a high level ambition for cooperation and mobility for both students, teachers and other staff.

Since 2021, the University of Glasgow is a new associate member of CIVIS. The University of Glasgow is a strong research university with many international study programmes, which has also profiled itself through its community involvement.

At this breakfast meeting, we will give a current description of the alliance's work after 1.5 years and describe priorities and the new opportunities for cooperation that have emerged. We will also hear a presentation of the University of Glasgow by Ms. Rachel Sandison, Vice Principal External Relations at the University of Glasgow.

Future announcements and examples of educational collaborations in which the university participates will be presented at a second breakfast meeting about CIVIS later this spring.

Speakers:

Johanna Diehl, project manager for Civis
Fredrik Oldsjö, coordination secretariat for CIVIS
Rachel Sandison, Vice Principal External Relations, University of Glasgow
Maria Wilenius, Head at Office of the President
