New program period for Erasmus+ 2021-2027

The Erasmus program, which turns 35 next year, is one of the most successful EU initiatives, with a total of over ten million participants. In March, the new Erasmus+ program 2021-2027 was launched, a new seven-year program period with funding opportunities for mobility, collaboration and development projects in higher education.

Stockholm University's application for the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-27 was approved by the EU Commission earlier this year. The charter is a requirement for participation in the new program.

The EU is investing a lot of money in the new program. With an almost doubled budget compared to the previous program, even more students and staff will have the opportunity to participate. Virtual and blended mobility creates new opportunities for joint educational collaborations with the university's partner universities. The program supports student, doctoral and staff mobility, among other things. Funding for the development of international collaborative projects can be applied for through Key Action 2: Erasmus+ Cooperatoion among organisations and institutions.

Erasmus + will contribute to the continued development of the European Education Area by 2025 and promote the mobility and recognition of academic qualifications within Europe. The European University Initiative, which is part of Erasmus+, has an important role in this process. Stockholm University participates in the European University Initiative through the alliance Civis- European Civic University.
