If you have previously taken courses which correspond to degree-qualifying (compulsory) courses within your education at Stockholm Business School, you can apply to credit these, and thus avoid studying them.

A credit transfer may concern:

•    Courses within the main field of study for a degree in Business Administration or Advertising & PR
•    Studies abroad as complementary studies in Business Administration or Advertising & PR
•    Exchange studies with Learning Agreement
•    Experience of professional activities if it can be considered to provide corresponding knowledge and skills.
Before submitting your application, contact our student counsellors for further advice.

How do I know if my previous education can be credited?

Your knowledge needs to correspond to the knowledge, abilities and skills specified in the syllabus for the course you want to credit yourself with at Stockholm Business School. In the current course syllabus, you will find information about course content and learning objectives - the basis for decisions on credit transfer.
Please note that you must be an active student at Stockholm University to make a credit transfer application.

When do I not need to apply for a credit?

If you have completed courses at Stockholm University or another Swedish university and want to include these in a degree in addition to your subject studies within the main areas of business administration or advertising & PR, you do not need to apply for a credit transfer. In connection with applying for a degree at Stockholm University, you include those of these courses that you want to include in your degree.

How to apply for a credit transfer

Apply online via Ladok for students
•    Log in with your university account, click Apply for and Crediting.
•    Give information about the course you read earlier and which course you want it to be credited for (the course you don’t want to study).

What do I need to attach to my credit application?

It is important that your application is complete. Attach the following supporting documents as PDF-files:
•    Official Transcript of Records in the original language and an authorized English translation. The transcript must show your grades and information on grading scales. The transcripts have to be either digital originals or scanned originals on paper. Screenshots are not accepted.
•    Detailed course syllabus from the term the course was taken in an authorized English translation. Information on the level and extent of the studies as well as forms of examination should be included and a reading list if available. If you are applying to transfer credits taken within Stockholm Business School, you do not need to include course syllabi in your application.
•    If you wish to transfer credits from exchange studies, please enclose your Learning Agreement from Stockholm University and a Transcript of Records from your host university (no course syllabi).

Decision and processing time

Decisions on credit transfer are made by the director of studies. The processing time is up to one month from the time a complete application is received. When the processing is completed, you will receive an email with a decision on whether your application can be granted, partly granted, or rejected. If your application is rejected, the decision can be appealed. Instructions on how to appeal are stated in the decision. A granted credit is documented in Ladok and cannot be undone.

Miscellaneous

A credit transfer is an administrative measure and not an examining measure. This means that the credited course is not assigned a grade.

A credit transfer may not be included in a degree at the same time as courses completed and approved within or outside the country, the content of which fully or partially corresponds to the content of the credit transfer (so-called overlap).

A credit transfer can have consequences for your further studies as for the content of the degree. It may also affect your right to student financing. When a credit transfer is approved for a certain course within a programme or course module, SBS cannot replace the course. This may result in you not being able to study full-time during that semester.
