The network meeting introduced the 15 Centers of Excellence funded by the Swedish Research Council’s new effort to create and support outstanding research environments working on multi-disciplinary issues in all scientific disciplines.

Co-director Jonas Tallberg gave a presentation at the meeting to introduce the SCGG and to explain the center's core research focus and purpose.

As the first Centre of Excellence for global governance research in Northern Europe, the SCGG brings together and integrates many different research disciplines such as social sciences, humanities, and law, providing cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, graduate training, and policy engagement.

SCGG's research focuses on contestation of global governance, including the underlying sources for contestation, the processes by which contestations is manifested, and the consequences of contestations on global governance. Finally, SCGG will also examine how global governance can be reformed in order to be more democratic, effective, and fair.

In addition to fostering research, SCGG will also host and promote many exciting events, have a visiting scholar program, a research school, and engage with a wide range of societal actors including policymakers, civil society, and business.
