End date: Wednesday 17 May 2023

Time: 15.00

Location: National Library of Sweden

The “Open Science – From Policy to Practice” conference will highlight different perspectives of shaping, implementing and embedding Open Science. The aim is to exchange knowledge, share best practices and to discuss how Open Science can contribute to strengthening sustainable futures and democracies in and beyond the European Union. The event will take place in Stockholm on 16-17 May 2023 and will be streamed to facilitate online participation.

The Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre is one of the organizers behind the conference and Ellen Bruno, policy analyst at the Baltic Sea Centre, gives the talk "Bridging the Gap between Science and Policy – Lessons Learned by the Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre", during the session "Science for Policy making".

Access to, and sharing of research results and data. The understanding of, and engagement in research. Direct involvement of stakeholders and citizens in the research process.

All these aspects are key to implementing Open Science. At the same time, a better understanding of the various dimensions and implications of Open Science is needed, among policy makers as well as practitioners. The importance of collaborations between researchers, and the involvement of other societal actors to improve research, understanding and trust, is increasingly being emphasised, at national, European and global level.

The two-day conference consists of several sessions highlighting different aspects of Open Science and will be held on two consecutive days, 16-17 May. Join policy makers and other stakeholders from across Europe to discuss ways to embed and transfer Open Science policies into practice at different levels and sectors.

16 May: Implementing Open Science – from policy to national level
