Bridging the science-policy gap – Stockholm University sets example

Gun Rudquist, Head of Policy at the Baltic Sea Centre was one of the presenters when a large conference on science for policy was held in October. Recordings from the conference is now available online.

The EU Commission Joint Research Centre has a special unit called Knowledge4Policy, which focuses on bridging the gap between science and policy.

In October 2023 they organised a large conference designed to answer the following questions:

  • What are the trends, challenges and opportunities for the future of evidence-informed policymaking?
  • How can we build stronger science-for-policy institutions, networks and ecosystems in Europe?
  • How can we develop the competencies and skills needed for effective science-for-policy mechanisms?
  • How can we improve the governance of science for policy?

The Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre participated in a workshop on competences and presented our working methods and experiences with trying to increase the dialogue between science and the rest of society.
