Berit Olofsson receives prize for groundbreaking work in organic chemistry
The Ulla and Stig Holmquist Scientific Prize in Organic Chemistry is one of the major science prizes in Sweden and is worth 1.9 mSEK

Professor Berit Olofsson, deputy director of SUCCeSS, has been awarded the prestigious Ulla and Stig Holmquist Prize for her work on hypervalent iodine chemistry. Her “elegant and gentle approach” uses hypervalent iodine reagents to obviate toxic metals as catalysts, leading to more environmentally friendly and sustainable chemistry. The prize is awarded annually to a Swedish-based, pioneering organic chemist and is hosted at Uppsala University.
The SUCCeSS community congruatulates her and celebrates this achievement!
The prize is awarded in conjunction with the Holmquist Symposium where Professor Olofsson will give the keynote speech in Uppsala on 8 October, 2025.
