SUCCeSS hosted the Treesearch study visit at SU

The 5th of December SUCCeSS together with Treesearch organized a study visit at Stockholm University. The goal of the visit was to showcase the infrastructure of the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry and create new collaborations with other universities and industries.

The research infrastructures that were selected were based on the interest of Treesearch with relevance to the forest industry. The seminar attracted people from SCA, Billerud, Lignin Industries, Westinghouse, SLU, Luleå University of Technology, Chalmers and KTH.

Dr. Varvara Apostolopoulou Kalkavoura, Prof. Berit Olofsson, Dr. Tom Willhammar, Assist. Prof. Mika Sipponen and Prof. Lennart Bergström gave insightful talks regarding research collaborations challenges, opportunities and real examples.

Four different demonstrations of the infrastructure were organized in smaller teams (TEM: Dr. Tom Willhammar, SEM: Houssine Khalili, Ultramicrotomy: Mathias Nero, Nanocellulose Processing: Hongrun Chen, Senuri Hansika Kumarage).
