About the courses

The five courses A, B, C, D and E teaches practical skills in Swedish as a foreign language and the participants will acquire a basic knowledge of Swedish grammar, vocabulary, phonemes and pronunciation. The writing of narrative and descriptive texts is also part of the course.

Classes

The courses consist of 30-40 contact hours distributed once a week during the semester. The study group will take 20 to 30 participants with classes in the late afternoon or evening. Seminars will cover practical exercises in listening, reading and speaking, as well as writing functional texts used in every day working situations. The participants are expected to do assignments outside classes.

 

Application 

Due to a limited amount of spaces we accept students on a first come first serve basis. Before you fill out your application, make sure to inform your supervisor/head of department that you intend to participate in the courses.

N.B.
The application will only be accepted when you have confirmed that your participation has been approved by your supervisor/head of department (within the application form). 

 

Course Period and Registration

The courses start in late September and in late January. Registration for the employee courses in the fall semester 2019 is available between 1 August – 15 September 2019. 


Placement test

If you have previous knowledge of Swedish you need to take a digital Placement test. You sign up on the above link but please read the below instructions first:

If you want to take the Placement test, make sure you answer “no” to the questions “Have you previously taken or passed one of the Employee courses here at SU?” and “Are you a true beginner in Swedish?” otherwise the link to the test won’t show up at the bottom of the page. The last day to take the Placement test is on 15 September 2019.

A few days before the courses start you will receive a confirmation e-mail with information about your course level, how to choose group and links to the schedules. The courses in the fall semester 2019 start the last week of September or the first week of October.
