The issue of integration is often narrowly focused on individual problems, such as unemployment or crime. But integration is a multidimensional phenomenon and in this book several central dimensions are highlighted, including education, work, housing, friendship and social ties, as well as religiosity, attitudes and well-being. Young people with a foreign background are, contrary to what many people believe, very optimistic about the future and have high ambitions when it comes to education and career. Integration in terms of higher education is also fast, but young people with a foreign background are at the same time at a higher risk than others of not having upper secondary education

In the book Integration among young people – a multicultural generation grows up, the researchers Carina mood, Jan o. Jonsson and Georg Treuter at the Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at the University of Stockholm and the Institute for Future Studies (IFFS) followed over 5,000 young people through their teenage years to early adulthood and let them describe their lives and living conditions in terms of school, leisure, attitudes, visions of the future and much more.
