Antropologins teorihistoria


Kursen ger en bred introduktion till historien om antropologisk teori från mitten av artonhundratalet till 1980-talet.

Den kontextualiserar centrala antropologiska begrepp och idéer inom bredare filosofiska strömningar som har haft störst betydelse för och inverkan på utvecklingen av disciplinen. Dessa innefattar, men är inte begränsade till, evolutionism, positivism, hermeneutik, marxism, kritisk teori, strukturalism och feminism.

Särskild uppmärksamhet ägnas åt de sociala och politiska sammanhang ur vilka antropologi uppstod. Kursen betonar behovet av reflexivitet avseende de konsekvenser och krav som antropologiska metoder och teori ställer. Den kombinerar viktiga klassiska texter med sekundärlitteratur.
