Courses and programmes

Here you can find information about our courses and admission requirements for the different levels. In the menu to the left you will find information about how to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Chinese, information about our Master’s programme, research programmes and all other freestanding courses. Click on the course to see schedule, reading list and course content.

First cycle studies (Bachelor´s degree)

To obtain a bachelor’s degree in Chinese you need to study the freestanding courses in Chinese I, II, III, IV, write a bachelor’s essay in Chinese as well as 30 credits in another field of study.

Second cycle studies (Master´s degree)

At second cycle studies, the Department offers two master's programmes. For both of the master programmes you need a bachelor's degree in Asian Languages and Cultures, or the equivalent. For the master's programme in China Studies you need to have studied specifically Chinese on first cycle studies, whereas the programme in Asian studies is open also for students who have studied Korean or Japanese.

Third cycle studies (PhD level)

On third cycle studies, the Department offers Doctoral studies in Asian Languages and Cultures and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. There are usually about two positions in each field of study (Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Arabic).
