Our research and researchers
CEMAS is a forum which gathers archaeologists, ethnologists and historians from Stockholm University and the National Maritime and Transport Museums.
The Centre for Maritime Studies creates platforms for contact and the exchange of scientific ideas between researchers at Stockholm University and the Swedish National Maritime and Transport Museums (SMTM). Since the start in 2010, the collaboration has resulted in, among other things, several anthologies, new courses and the research programme The Lost Navy.
About the Swedish National Maritime and Transport Museums
The Swedish National Maritime and Transport Museums, SMTM, is a national public authority tasked with running several museums and collections within the maritime and transport field. The maritime museums under SMTM:s authority include the Naval Museum in Karlskrona as well as the Maritime Museum, The Vasa Museum and Vrak - Museum of Wrecks in Stockholm.
Historians, archaeologists and ethnologists at the SMTM and the Maritime museums do research spanning from under the seas to the museums' collections.
