In-depth course for those who have both teaching experience and previous higher education pedagogical education, UL1 or equivalent. However, you do not need prior knowledge of digital technology. The course is primarily aimed at employees at Stockholm University and the Stockholm trio universities.

About the course

In a critical and constructive way, you will gain a better understanding of how digital technology can support learning. After the course, you can better assess how to best use digital support in your own teaching.

The course is practically oriented but based on research on digitally supported teaching and learning. You will work both individually and in groups, and the aim of the task is to contribute to your development as a teacher and possibly also to your department's pedagogical development plan.

Content and structure

The course combines theory and practice. Each part has theoretical content that you will test/evaluate/analyze in relation to your pedagogical work. You will receive practical advice on different opportunities and challenges to make digital tools and technology work for you and your teaching.

We introduce a new area every two weeks:

• Digital education, myths and experiences (Intro)
• Design for learning
• Collaborative learning
• AI: Artificial intelligence or academic integrity

The course consists of seminars via Zoom, except for one workshop which will be in one of Stockholm University’s ALC (Active Learning Classrooms) rooms. Your work outside the classroom will consist of both individual and group work. All course meetings are mandatory (when not stated otherwise). Before and between the meetings, you prepare yourself by reading literature, doing online activities, and doing individual work. We use Athena as a platform together with additional complementary web-based tools. You need a computer with a webcam to participate in the course. The course corresponds to two weeks of studies (equivalent to 3 credits).

Registration

Participation is free of charge for all employees at Stockholm University or in the university alliance Stockholm trio, employees at Karolinska Institutet and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Once your application has been processed, you will receive a message through the booking system with instructions on how to complete your registration. Thereafter, your registration is binding, and if you withdraw it later than two weeks before the start of the course, the department will be invoiced with SEK 2000. By registering, you confirm that your participation in the course has been approved by the head of the department or equivalent.

We also welcome course participants from other universities, subject to availability and a course fee.
