For you who are just beginning to learn what Artificial Intelligence could mean for university teaching. How can teachers use generative AI as a pedagogical tool without compromising the learning process? What ethical challenges do teachers face when generative AI is introduced in an educational context?
An introductory workshop for teaching staff at Stockholm University who want to explore potential uses, benefits and limitations of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools for teaching, learning and assessment practices.
This workshop is designed for you who are just beginning to learn what Artificial Intelligence could mean for your university teaching. In this workshop, you will learn how AI tools work so you can understand their capabilities and limitations better. The workshop will be delivered through a combination of presentations, group discussions, and case studies. Emphasis will be on encouraging participants to share their experiences and perspectives and to actively engage in critical thinking and reflection on the uses of AI tools for teaching and learning practices
About the workshop
Participants will learn, among other things, how generative AI can be used to create exercises at different difficulty levels, develop creative scenarios and create multiple-choice questions that support student learning. During the workshop, ethical issues and challenges with AI will also be discussed to clarify challenges with different tools. Finally, we will also discuss the question of possible cheating with AI tools and how you can work with students to avoid these issues.
During the workshop, we will discuss the potential uses of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools for teaching, learning and assessment practices. Participants will be introduced to the basics of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools and have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of tools (such as AI chatbots and AI search tools). If you have any suggestions or preferences for tools you would like us to focus on, please contact the workshop leaders no later than two weeks before the session, and we will try to add that tool.
Workshop leaders are Alexandra Farazouli, Doctoral Student at the Department of Education and Mara Haslam from the Department of Teaching and Learning. The workshop will be held in English.
