Dual-use products (PDA- produkter med dubbla användningsområden), are products, for example, chemicals, equipment and software that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. PDAs may also include knowledge of the manufacture and use of these products.
Anyone who exports these products and technology out of the country is obliged to find out if these are classified as PDAs. PDAs may not be exported outside the EU without a permit and if classified products are to be sent to countries within the EU, in some cases a transfer permit is required. The recipient must always be informed about the classification.
The Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP) is the Swedish Authority which control the exports of military equipment and dual-use products.
The university must ensure that all handling of PDAs is carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Lars Resman, export control officer at SU, will support researchers/departments and he will handle SU's applications against ISP. Lars.Resman@su.se
