DSV’s AI policy

This policy is designed to govern the use of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Bard, Copilot, and similar tools, for students enrolled at DSV.

By employing AI tools, students commit to adhering to the following principles:

  1. Authorized Utilization: Students are authorized to utilize AI tools to enhance their understanding of scientific knowledge. This includes employing AI tools to support their learning, improve communication, and enhance their writing skills. Furthermore, students are permitted to use AI tools to augment their learning in preparation for assignments and exams.
  2. Ownership of Originality: Students bear complete responsibility for the originality and content of all texts and documents submitted for examination (e.g., exams, assignments, theses). It is prohibited for students to claim ownership of AI tool-generated texts, models, or code without proper references to the utilized AI tools. Any submission must include a description of how these AI tools were employed. For example, what questions were asked to ChatGPT and how the generated answers were integrated into the submitted text.
  3. Additional Considerations: Students are reminded that specific courses may provide additional and detailed information on the use of AI tools. Therefore, it is crucial to be attentive and refer to each course for more detailed instructions.
  4. Consequences for Academic Misconduct: In the event of suspicion regarding a student's violation of guidelines related to academic misconduct through the utilization of AI tools in assignments, exams, theses, etc., appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with established procedures for addressing academic misconduct.
