Towards the personalization of Brazilian politics? A Case Study of Brazilian Presidential Candidates (1989-2022)
The study focuses on the personalization of Brazilian politics during the democratic period (1989-present), empirically focusing on electoral communication in presidential campaigns. The methodological approach is the content analysis on a corpus composed of Newspapers, Free Political Advertising Hours (HGPE - in Portuguese) and social media (Facebook and Instagram). The behavioral dimension should also be analyzed based on the national survey promoted by the Brazilian Electoral Study (BES). Contextually, Brazilian politics is characterized as personalistic, but there is a gap as to whether Brazilian politics has become more personalistic over time and its implications.
