On May 31, 2022 three new professors were installed
On May 31, 2022 President Astrid Söderbergh Widding, Stockholm University, installed the department's three new professors: Marina Dahlquist, Ester Pollack and Louise Wallenberg in Stockholm City Hall.

We offer doctoral programmes in Media and Communication Studies, Journalism, Cinema Studies and Fashion Studies, leading to the Swedish degree of philosophiae doctor, or doctor of philosophy (i.e. filosofie doktor).

The Department of Media Studies offers doctoral programmes in four different areas; Media and Communication Studies, Journalism Studies, Cinema Studies and Fashion Studies.

Dr. Chafic Najem successfully defended his PhD thesis "Smuggle, Frame, Shoot. Illicit Media Practices and Visual Insurgency from Lebanese Incarceration" at Stockholm University today. The examination committee announced its unanimous verdict on February 24 at 16:10, saying that he had passed.
