Abstract
How do you know that a tumor is receiving sufficient radiation doses – but that healthy tissue is being spared? The answer lies in mathematical models. The lecture demonstrates how advanced calculations are used in hospital physics to plan and optimize radiation treatments. Using models, physicists can predict how radiation spreads in the body, tailor treatments for each patient, and continuously improve precision. The lecture takes you behind the scenes of healthcare's most high-tech decision-making processes, where mathematics can literally make the difference between illness and recovery.
