European Research Council funding for outstanding joint project in quantum physics

Markus Hennrich, professor in quantum physics at Stockholm University, together with Igor Lesanovsky from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Tübingen and Ferdinand Schmidt-Kaler from Mainz University, has been awarded the European Research Council's most prestigious grant, the ERC Synergy Grant worth EUR 10 million, about SEK 116 million, over a period of six years.

Six researchers share SEK 175 million from the Wallenberg Foundation

The importance of Arctic methane emissions for the climate, how matter is formed and broken down, evolutionary shifts in the plant kingdom, and new effective methods for producing bioactive substances that will meet future needs for medicines and advanced electronics. These are just a few examples of basic research at Stockholm University that has received funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

Six researchers share 175 million from the Wallenberg Foundation

Basic research at Stockholm University has been granted funding by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. Henning Schmidt, Professor of Atomic Physics division at Fysikum, has received SEK 35,000,000 over five years for the project 'Making and breaking of molecular bonds'.

Eddy is a teacher, researcher and newly appointed professor at Fysikum

Eddy Ardonne comes from the province of Zeeland in the south-west of the Netherlands. He obtained his Master's degree at Leiden University and Phd in Amsterdam. After being a Postdoc in the US for five years, he joined Nordita and then came to Fysikum in 2012. Until this year, he has been teaching in parallel with his research. In August 2024, the President promoted him to Professor of Condensed Matter Theory.
