Organisation

The department has about 60 employees, of which about 10 work with administrative duties. The Head of Department is responsible for all activities of the department.

 

Department management

The Head of Department manages the department and is responsible for all activities at the department. The Head of Department has a weekly meeting with the Deputy Head of Department, Assistant Head of Department, and Head of Administration, and to which other relevant persons/functions are summoned.

The department has a Council for PhD students and a Student Council. The supervisors at the sections offering doctoral (PhD) studies, i.e. Baltic Studies, Finnish, German and Slavic Studies, meet regularly.

 

Department board

The department board is the highest decision making body of the department. The board is led by the Head of Department (Chairperson) or the Deputy Head of Department (Vice-Chairperson). The members represent both academic staff and administrativ staff. The board also consists of student representatives as well as PhD students.

Sections at the department

The department has five sections: Section for Baltic Studies, Section for Finnish, Section for Dutch, Section for German and Section foir Slavic Studies.

Education on bachelor's and master's level within each section is led by the Directors of Studies. Each section also has a representative.
