On Wednesday June 4th, Charlotta Kvarnemo from University of Gothenburg, will give a talk at 2pm in room P224 about:
The definition of sexual selection
Abstract: Sexual selection is often defined as competition among one sex for access to mates and their gametes. However, mates can offer both resources and gametes, and while competition for gametes of the opposite sex for fertilisation clearly generates sexual selection, competition for access to other resources, like food, safety, or parental care, does not. Lotta will talk about book-keeping related to this elusive line between natural and sexual selection, and why it is important.
