History of the Faculty

In 1964, four years after Stockholm University became a university, the Faculty of Social Sciences was established. However, social science research and education have been an important part of the university for longer than that, but then within the Faculty of Humanities. With a national higher education reform in 1964, parts of the humanities faculties were broken out and formed social science faculties. This happened simultaneously at most universities in Sweden.

In connection with the faculty's 50th anniversary in 2014, the book "Faculty of Social Sciences 1964-2014" was published. The book is a compilation of the history of the Faculty and its departments from 1964 to 2014.
