Giving and receiving feedback in higher education

In this workshop we explore how feedback is given and received, based on video-recordings of authentic feedback situations in higher education.
The workshop is useful for university teachers who supervise, teach, or assess students in different disciplines and educational settings.

About the workshop

This workshop focuses on feedback as an interaction between teachers and students, and on how different ways of giving feedback can support or hinder students’ learning and development. Using video examples drawn from authentic highern education feedback situations, participants will analyse and discuss how feedback is communicated, how students respond to it, and how feedback practices vary across subjects and teaching traditions.

You will:

• Explore and discuss how feedback is communicated in different higher education settings.
  

• Discuss how students interpret, respond to, and make use of feedback.
  
• Analyse concrete examples of feedback interactions from different disciplines.
  
• Reflect on similarities and differences in feedback practices across subjects.
  
• Discuss strategies for creating feedback situations that support student participation, reflection, and learning.

Workshop leader is Gustav Lymer, Lecturer at the Department of Education. The workshop is held in English.

The workshop is aimed at all teaching staff and educational managers, regardless of subject affiliation, at Stockholm University. Participation is free of charge. Book your place in good time, as places are limited. First come, first served is applied.
