About me

My research aims to investigate methane emissions from the seabed in the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (ESAS). These areas are characterized by subsea permafrost , which currently thaws faster than terrestrial permafrost, potentially contributing to the elevated methane levels observed in the surface waters.

My main focus is to use stable carbon isotopes of specific biomarkers for methane oxidation to better understand trends of methane emissions and methane oxidation in current and past climates.

Circum-Arctic Sediment Carbon Database (CASCADE)

The international collaboration Circum-Arctic Sediment Carbon Database (CASCADE) curates data from the entire Arctic Ocean on organic carbon, nitrogen, carbon isotopes, and biomarkers. The vision for CASCADE is to be expanded by other components, organic contaminants, more biomarkers, sediment physical properties and sediment cores.
