Research groups

History of Education and Sociology of Education

The research group has an interest in the meaning and evolution of educational systems. The changing conditions of education are highlighted both historically and in present-day terms, on a conceptual and policy level.

Didactics as Communication

We study learning as a social practice within formally as well as informally organized institutions. We do theoretical and empirical studies of teaching and learning as communicative practices where knowledge and knowing take shape.

About me

Anna Ahlgren holds a PhD in Education from Stockholm University and is a trained teacher for grades F–3, with a Master’s degree in Education. Her research focuses on school entry, becoming a student, and the school’s normalizing practices, as well as assessment, sorting, and inclusion in school, with a theoretical foundation in the work of Michel Foucault.
