About me
Annika is a Research Associate at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), an international non-profit research institute that tackles climate, environment and sustainable development challenges, and an industrial PhD student at the department of Economic History and International Relations.
Annika’s PhD is part of an interdisciplinary Formas-funded project called “Mobilizing Private Investment for Climate and Nature in LLMICs: Learning from Investors' Perspectives on Risk, Return, and Blended Finance (MPICaN)” which investigates how private firms make financing and investment decisions in climate mitigation and adaptation projects in Low and Lower-Middle-Income countries (LLMICs), and will aim to identify which blended finance tools and governance interventions most effectively enable investment. Her research focuses on the role of donor-funded governance interventions to reduce investment risks by creating an enabling institutional environment and the interactions between providers and recipients of capacity-building, technical assistance, and knowledge-sharing projects.
Her previous research has focussed on clean energy development interventions in Mozambique and Malawi; learning, measurement & results frameworks in development cooperation; Swedish climate finance, and funding mechanisms for chemicals and waste in LLMICs. Previously, Annika has coordinated the Swedish Development Research Network (SweDev).
Annika holds a BA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge and a MSc in Political Science from Stockholm University.
